The Brazilian Wax

How did the Brazilian wax begin? ~ Bikini lines where changed forever to New Yorkers 1987 when 7 sisters from (you guessed it) Brazil open a Salon in Manhattan called J. Sisters International Salon. It really caught the world buy storm when such famous faces in Hollywood such as Gwenth and Naomi then made it appearance on Sex & the City!!

What is the Brazilian Wax? ~ It is known as many things but it all comes down to having ALL the hair in the nether regions removed as painlessly as possible. It leaves you nice and smooth everywhere under your underwear. You can choose to leave a shape or line or patch (triangle) of hair in the front and remove the rest.

Does It Hurt? ~ I am not gonna lie…you can’t feel a thing! Just Kidding! The amount of pain Depends of every person and there amount of pain tolerance. The first time is always the worst time for everybody! The hair has never been ripped out by the root before and they are big and strong over a lot of years of shaving or just staying put! But when you hear the Horrors of waxing “down stairs” they are usually overrated.

There are few things you can do to reduce the pain...
~ You can take a couple of Advil or Aspirin.
~ You can buy some cream to help numb the pain such as Emla at your local pharmacy.
~ Do not come four days before or after your period.
~ Do not try doing it yourself at home!!
~ If you are pregnant it may also make you a little bit more sensitive to pain.

How do I prepare for a wax?
~ Loofah your bikini line everyday in the shower. This helps get out the horrible in grown hairs.
~ Make sure you shower before your appointment. Going for a wax straight from the gym is not pleasant for your estithician or yourself.
~ Come to you appointment relaxed and calm. Being anxious about getting waxed always makes it hurt a little bit more.

When Should I not come for a wax?
~ If you are using any Retinol products such as Retin A
~ If you have a sunburn or laser burn
~ If you have your period
~ If you have any kind of STD AT ALL!
~ If you use Accutane

So I get to the salon what do I expect when I get there? ~ You get taken back to the private waxing room. It can take from 30 mins to 90 mins. You get a little skirt to where and are asked to take of your pants and your underwear. Then we apply a strip wax to the top area of the bikini, either taking all the hair or leaving a specified amount. Then we use a no strip wax to the rest of the area as we work our way down. This wax does not sick to skin only to hair so it will not hurt anything sensitive that may be down there. When the wax is pulled off there may be a few hairs to tweeze. After all the hair is removed we apply a product that helps prevent ingrown hairs and gets rid of ingrown hairs that may already be there from shaving. I also strongly recommend that every client takes it home and uses it on a regular basis.

Does everybody in the Salon know why I am there? ~ No absolutely no one else in the salon knows what procedure is being down while you are the back room.

What if I am too shy top get it done? ~ That is everyone’s #1 concern. I will do all that I can to minimize the discomfort. I say look at it this way, last year I did about 100 Brazilian waxes. Which means I have seen a lot of “nether regions” and your region is not any more special or different than the last one.

So why should I go through all this and get the Brazilian wax? ~ There are so many reasons...

~ less or no ingrown hairs
~ you can wear very revealing swimsuits or lingerie
~ the results last from 3-6 weeks and every time you
get it done it last a bit longer
~ you feel so much cleaner and fresher
~ it makes intercourse more erotic
~ NO MORE SHAVING and ITCHY REGROWTH!!!

So what the final word? ~ Well the Brazilian wax is not a glamorous procedure. You will fell a little shy and a lot silly when you are asked to put your legs up in the air or go one all fours to get those last little bits of hair. It is a personal procedure you are getting someone you don’t know very well to touch in places that not many do and using hot wax none the less.

Almost every first client says “I like it but I WILL NOT be back!!” ...and in about 4-6 weeks they are calling and booking another. In the end it is all worth and you don’t even remember the pain. You feel clean and fresh and smooth. The results are incomparable!!!
